I really need to clean my damn flat. The bedroom has exploded with clothes unpacked from SD, clothes worn and immediately shed on the floor, and laundry.
It's exhausting just looking at it.
I also still need to buy a goddamn filing cabinet and organize the piles of papers on my desk. I think the first chance I'll have to do that is the last weekend in July. I feel like in order to do anything, from buying a tube of toothpaste or making plans with friends, I need to schedule it in because otherwise it's not going to happen. Time is moving at warp speed and I'm feeling very, very old today. Blah.
As I've whined before, what I really need is a true vacation. Not a trip, where there's a crazy rush of events (not that that isn't fun). But a vacation where you sleep in late. Get up. Grab some juice and toast and wander around a museum. Cafe lunch. Nice dinner. That sort of thing. And you get to do it for a week someplace outside of your home without all the responsibilities that home brings.
Stace and I are very serious about our trip to France next year. I really hope it works out because it'll be fun to go with her. But if something happens and she can't make it, goddammit I'm going by myself. I'd like to see Paris again. But at some point we need to decide where else we'd like to go.
And what's nice is that my boss has moved from saying 'we'd like to make you full time' to 'we're going to make you full time.' Small but important distinction. They're getting the paperwork ready now. It'll be such a huge relief. And even with the paycut, I can't wait to enjoy paid holidays and have sick leave and vacation pay. Not to mention the insignificant detail of health insurance. Also my company has a pension plan and some nice perks.
Argh. Need to get dressed now, but no idea what to wear since clothing is scattered. Bugger.

Date: 2005-07-20 10:38 pm (UTC)The last real vacation I went on was to Kaua'i with Amy back in 2000. I've worked part-time hours the past few years so plenty of time to take vacations, but no money.
Now I've got the money, but no time!
There's got to be a good balance out there! I already owe 4 separate visits to the Bay area (my nephews, Amy, Hawk, and my other group of friends that I haven't seen in years). Plus a visit to LA to visit the family. An extended family trip to Tahoe is planned for December, so I've got to find time for that.
It's. CRAZY!
And thanks for the congrats! I won't rest easy until the ink's dried. But it's exciting that it seems to be on the way to being 100% official!
