As busy as this weekend was, it didn't rush by like other busy weekends have. It was really rather nice.

Got up Saturday to move some furniture around, empty the hall closet, and other things to prepare for Sarah's move. There was house-cleaning and the tossing of approximately five point nine billion product boxes I will never need. They were purged from under the bed, under the dresser, the hall closet, and the garage storage. I feel so liberated.

I met Sarah at her place and we loaded up many boxes to store at Ellen's. After unloading at their house, I came home and Sarah went for a drive. Hobbes is always fascinated by any activity that involves moving furniture. He was delighted that I had sprawled out on the floor in front of the tv and we napped until Sarah's call bolted me upright. I'm not used to having a phone in the living room and I answered it before I'd quite woken up, much to Sarah's amusement.

Sarah excitedly told me that the 5 Spot has a Minnesotan theme. Well, The Heartland, she admitted. So we agreed that I would drive over, meet her for dinner, we'd load up more stuff in our cars and then come back to my place to watch the latest BSG. Dinner was hilarious. Cheese curds (which apparently weren't like the real deal), walleye, brisket and we ended by splitting the most amazing cherry cobbler I've ever had in my life. Back to my place, we unloaded stuff and watched an interesting episode.

Sarah left, and I didn't end up staying awake too late.

Sunday we reconvened at her place, where Jeff The Magnificent met us around 11. I know I get to see him every day, but seeing him on the weekend is such a bonus. We loaded up all the furniture we could fit, stuffed our cars full, and caravan'd over to Ellen's house. Ellen has been out of town for a sister's-weekend with Judy, but her wonderful husband Jeff was very gracious and helped us unload all vehicles.

We moved on to my place where we had to unload the futon. We were all hungry and I made puppy-eyes until it was decided that we would go immediately to the Hi Life before the second load (they stop serving breakfast at 3!). And they were actually out of the goddamn blueberry pancakes. MOWR. They claim they use the same batter in the non-blueberry, but they just end up tasting so different. Oh well.

Off to Sarah's for round two of the truck load, and we got everything that ultimately needed to be stored. More unloading. We said goodbye to Ellen's Jeff and, tragically to Jeff The Magnificent as well. Sarah and I bravely went straight back to her place to make an almost-final run of stuff for my place and eventually made our way home.

We realized that despite being as careful as possible, we couldn't find one of the widgets for the futon, and we needed groceries anyway. Out again to Fred Meyer (which didn't have the widget, or decent produce *hiss*) and a side trip to Safeway for free-range chicken and more produce. Back home, Sarah assembled the futon while I made vegetarian chili.

While I'm very excited to have her here, Hobbes is beside himself. After we got back from unloading, Sarah sprawled on the futon mattress and had a little lovefest with Hobbsie. It was unbelievably adorable. He kept headbutting her, and rubbing against her hair and she gave him the chin, ear, and neck scratching of his life. He was in heaven.

That is one happy cat:
