First of all, from Amy, a hilarious spoof on zee Ahnold.

Second of all, I'd like to thank all of you who posted reminders about the time change today. Not that I paid any attention. I hauled myself out of bed to get dressed because Allison is coming over at 10 with condo documents to review and...it's only 9. DOH.

Last night was a mixed bag. Sarah and I got dressed in our finery (she was decked out in Hogwarts gear and looked awesome). We couldn't get a cab, because everyone wanted a cab. So Sarah drove us and we found remarkably awesome parking and walked over to the Tractor Tavern. It seems like a cute place, but it was packed. The opening band had just started and we didn't care, so we walked over to the Alehouse to grab a bite. Dudley Manlove wasn't due to even start playing until 10:30-11. So we meandered back around 10:30, but the opening band (Fiasco) was still playing. And they weren't bad, but I think between being tired from the night before and tired from the morning, I really just wanted Dudley to start playing already. But they didn't start until after 11. Boo. Judy (Queen Bee) and John (White Rabbit) and Ellie (Kitty!) and Jeff (White Man at Luau) showed up, we grabbed some drinks and made our way to the floor.

At first it was great. Dudley came out and played a fantastic set of all the songs you are ashamed to love. There's something so cathartic about jumping up and down and screaming I Will Survive out with hundreds of strangers. Good times. But then they started the Top Ten Worst songs list from their website poll. And the first few were okay, but then it went downhill. As much as Tie a Yellow Ribbon Around the Old Oak Tree may be a bad song, it's not a good bad song. Aqua's Barbie Girl, which they also played, is a good bad song. So there were lots of boring bad songs I either didn't know or didn't know well. Sarah knew even fewer of them and was also a bit bored.

At this point all the drunk assholes in the area had decided to push their way directly in front of us and a creepy Guy in White spent the entire night staring at Sarah, poised to turn around and ask her to do the Hustle. So we kept swapping spots because he was lame. This incredibly drunk asshole in a hoodie kept lurching, looking like he was going to fall over, but he also nearly started a brawl right in front of us with the Guy in White (but people held him back) and Hoodie Asshole's lame friend kept trying to talk and/or make us dance with him and no. The final straw was when two drunk girls shoved their way in front of us and kept falling back into Sarah and finally stomped on her foot—hard. To prevent further violence, because I was ready to bitch slap her, it was time to leave. So we bid hastily shouted goodbyes to our friends and made our way to the door. We'd made it through the top ten and didn't want to stick around for the last few songs and inevitable stampede for the door.

Fresh air never tasted so good. It'd been so hot and cramped in there, the cold air was heaven. I'm not sure why they didn't do this at the Showbox like last year. The TT was just too small a venue for the band and not having the option to move around wasn't much fun. It was impossible to get to the bar to get a drink, there were just too many people. So next year, unless they play at a larger venue, we're going to skip it. So a bit disappointing, but the first part was still a complete blast, so it's not all bad.

Judy & Co have gone up to Everett to do a corn maize (or as Jeff insists it should be called, a 'maize maze'), but I've decided to skip it. My legs are sore from bouncing and I have Project Cookie with Jeff later. We're going to make Halloween cookies for our office bash on Monday. I need to buy the decorative accoutrements and head over there at 3, so I think a restful morning at home with Zee Hobbsie is a better plan for today so that I am not dead tomorrow.
