verbicideI met Allison at the condo tonight to do the final walk-through. It'd been so long since I'd seen it, that I was leaping out of my skin with excitement. Which would be really messy and gross if it actually happened.
So, anyhow. I got to meet one of the owners! He was really very nice. He said they loved the letter I wrote, and it's what sealed the deal for them. Preen! They even had the thank-you card I sent them after they accepted my offer stuck on their fridge. Happily, he stepped out to give us some privacy, which I was grateful for, because as nice as he was, I think I wouldn't have felt as comfortable shrieking about all the changes I wanted to make. I took photos. Many, many photos. Actually only 37, which I'm mildly surprised by, because that part went on for a long time.
As we were measuring walls, Sarah arrived, having survived the hell that is downtown traffic at rush hour. It was very exciting to show her the place. Both Allison and Sarah were very gracious in the face of my gleeful shrieking. And bouncing. And babbling. Because omg, I love this place! And I can't freaking wait to move in already. Another month...oy.
But I will content myself with the photos and accurate measurements. And doing research, lots and lots of research.
They finally managed to haul me away from the condo, everything looked fine.
Then Sarah took me out for dinner at Matador! I'm really going to miss Ballard. I know I can still visit, but soon it won't be mine anymore. But anyway, presents! Since I won't see Sarah tomorrow, she gave me my presents tonight! They are wonderful, as is she. She got me a collection of gorgeous vintage cat cards. All in the style and color tone of the Chat Noir poster (of which I have an enormous version on my living room wall). And they really fit the tone and style I plan to have for my condo--I'm going to frame them and decorate my new place with them! She also got me the amazing Inside the Not So Big House. Sarah introduced me to the Not So Big House years ago, and we've spent many hours poring over the gorgeous, nook-like designs. This book is perfect, because it talks about the small details you can add to your home. It is a perfect, perfect present, and I can't wait to curl up tonight with it and read about how to make my condo fabulous.
The week ahead is busy. Unfortunately, the escrow company isn't going to be ready for signing in the morning. Hopefully we'll be able to work something out in the afternoon or do it Thursday, as entertaining as it would be to do it tomorrow. I want to spend some time with Jeff after work, and then I'm meeting Judy for dinner. Thursday is Harry Potter at the IMAX. Friday is a charity ball. I think the weekend is actually, relatively free. The last one before the holidays I think. I'm hoping to crash at Sarah's to watch some movies and maybe take a Home Depot class. And also, to chill from the busy week. And begin the pre-move purge, so that the weeks right before aren't utter hell.
And now, I need to go draw my condo to scale.
