omfgsleeeeeeeeeep

It's been a wonderful week, but omfg sleep deprivation. My eye is twitching like a motherfucker.
Tonight will be another wonderful but late night. We're seeing Harry Potter 4 at 7:30 tonight, a day before (or, really 4.5 hours before) public release at the Boeing IMAX as a benefit for the Pacific Science Center. And today's been sort of a fluffy day because we had a company-wide Thanksgiving potluck. Our floor was assigned appetizers this year, so I brought gourmet flatbread crisps, an assortment of fine cheeses (including smoked cheddar, white Vermont cheddar, brie, gorgonzola, and Wallace's favorite, Wensleydale!), assorted Greek olives, and apples and strawberries. After a three-hour lunch, I think it borders on cruelty to expect us to snap back into work mode. I'm plodding along as earnestly as possible but omg time to leave is now. NOW NOW NOW.
Tomorrow night I'm going to a gala (I really like saying 'gala') event for a charity Ellie is on the board of. It's going to be a lot of fun, but I am so freaking grateful that this weekend I can sleep in and be very, very mellow.
More Condo Stuff
Talking with Judy last night, it made me realize that perhaps a professional painter for the condo makes more sense. I'm going to be on a very tight schedule:
I take possession on Friday, December 16th, and I really need to move in that weekend, because the next week, I'm out of town for a week. And the following weekend is New Year's, and I need to vacate my flat before then.
Also, wet paint cat = notsogood. I'm sure Hobbsie wouldn't mean to rub up against newly-painted-walls, but it'd be inevitable. So I took
euphrasie's great suggestion and contacted this painter guy via Craig's List. They have a November-December special (since fewer people opt to paint over the holidays) and they believe they can get the job done in two days. Which means: paint on Friday and Saturday, move-in on Sunday. I can ask them to start in the bedroom, and if there's any work left to be done by Sunday, Hobbsie can at least be isolated to one part of the home. He mentioned that painting trim is considerably more expensive, but if I'm shelling out a grand for paint, if it's a couple of hundred dollars more, it's probably worth it just to eliminate the hassle from my life, and to get it done really nicely. I figure I can do the bathrooms myself later when I re-tile, and I'll have my fill of painting-fun between that and the kitchen cabinets.
If it means putting off buying the couch for a month or two, I'm actually okay with that. I'd rather move slowly toward what I want and have things done nicely. I also realized that I'd be getting my damage deposit and cat deposit back (I generally walk away with the entire amount, for I am anal) and that's about $400. Other expenses I need to factor in for immediately are: locksmith to have the locks changed, and the damn closet doors. I think I'd rather rip them out and leave them sans doors than deal with the hateful brown slide-y doors.
