Work passed in a flurry of everything-but-work. I bid Jeff farewell (for a whole four days! *sob*) and I think I hugged him fourteen times. He brought me a jar of his rare plum jam to hold me over in this dark time of his absence.

Emily stopped by the office and we took off for Pacific Place. Quick burgers at Johnny Rockets and then we set off to the Meridian to see Rent. Which I liked much more than I expected to. A detailed review later, when I have time to articulate, by which time I'll have forgotten all the feelings I've got now, so hrm. Suffice it so say that I worship Jesse Martin and his enchanting smile. I would like Chris Columbus to never be allowed to touch another movie again, because as much as I loved it, I kept thinking how much better it would have been if a real director had been in charge. Regardless, there was sniffling.

Back home, I've tidied up a little bit (the living room mainly) and the carrot cake cheesecake is in the oven. New recipes are always such unknowns. The carrot cake part looks fine, but the cheesecake part is a bit thin. It's been a long time since I've made a cheesecake, so I think that's part of my apprehensiveness. I think cheesecake batter is fairly thin... Anyhow, it's also a bit lumpy. I've bought a hand-held mixer, but I think I would have been better served if the cream cheese had been at room temperature. Oh well. It's aligned in the pan okay, and hopefully will not suck.

So far, mostly on track. I really don't want to chop onions tonight. But since it's really only the turkey and stuffing in the morning, I think it'll be fine.

Hobbsie has been following me around from room to room, settling down for a nap wherever I am. I am very thankful for him.
