hail is not okay
Nov. 27th, 2005 09:25 pmDamnation, but it's cold out there. And in here, actually. Time to crank up the heat. Eeesh. Little balls of ice came falling down from the sky as we drove to dinner. I am not okay with this.
I made myself go to bed early last night because I wanted to get my sleep schedule normalized, and it worked rather well. Today was the Seattle Marathon in which my very studly friend, Jeanne, was running! I woke up early and lounged around before figuring out the bus schedule to get around town. But then I realized I didn't want to deal with transfers and limited bus schedules, and just drove. I was very glad I did, because standing around outside in the cold for an hour would have made me mental.
I found really glorious parking near mile 19 and waited for Jeanne to vroom on by. Judy, Jen, and KC showed up, so we were able to shriek at her in unison, and I got a nice video of Jeanne thundering away at an impressive pace! Judy was going to run the final 8 miles with Jeanne, so she ran off after her, and KC and Jen and I hung out for a bit before driving over to the finish line at the Seattle Center. And there we waited, cameras poised. Jeanne made great time, and she finished at a strong clip. It was amazing. I say I'd like to do a marathon before I'm 40, and then I come back to my senses.
Anyhow. We met Jeanne's parents who had flown in for the event, and then briefly parted, so Jeanne could go home and shower/change and Judy and I popped into Hilltop Yarn because they were having a sale. I got some yarn for scarves for the two fantastic admins at work who make life very pleasant for all of us. Then off to Korean BBQ. Which I'd never had, but found spectacular, except for the spicy tofu soup. But I really just don't like the texture of tofu. I've had it in a million different ways and while it doesn't make me puke, I just don't really care to put it in my mouth. Jeanne's parents treated us; Judy'd warned me ahead of time to not fight it. They're just very generous people.
Judy and I were supposed to go couch-shopping afterward, but it was so dark, my desk still wasn't clean (though I just cleaned it now!) and I still had some work to get through before tomorrow. So we'll go the next big sale they have. It's not like I need it right this minute. And I'd rather just dedicate a day to running around shopping and not a hasty evening when we both want to go home.
