Today was so much better. I think getting some work done over the weekend and late hours last week really paid off. I felt much more in control today.

Then Jeff and I went out for a celebratory lunch. His enthusiasm and deer-in-headlights reactions to this home-buying process is both familiar and damn endearing. I have refrained from pinching his cheeks and cooing as I fear he'd flatten me out for it. He and Chris are more than likely going to go with Derek, my lender, and I'm really glad that he's been a good recommendation for them.

Work went by fairly fast, and I requested Friday off and was giddy to realize that I can stay home that morning and Get Stuff Done. Jeanne called and we made plans to go do some final Christmas shopping after work tomorrow and have dinner and I'm just excited because it's going to be so much fun. Jeanne is all of our go-to person for...well, everything. I can't believe she's moving to San Diego. It's so unfair. Single girlfriends are such treaures, and she absolutely has to move back in a year. She just has to. Stitch 'n Bitch was hilarious on Sunday as we all took turns fighting over which one of us Jeanne helped next. We even talked about having a traveling Stitch 'n Bitch so we could still knit together now and then. Anyhow, we're going to the U Village tomorrow after work. Jeanne's going to help me match my paint swatch to this Pottery Barn bedding set I've decided I have to have. And Judy scolded me into buying it early because I tend to lust after things, not buy them, and then cry big salty tears when they become discontinued. So she's lifted the purchase-embargo off me for this item. Wheee! Also, I almost got her to spill the beans on what she's getting me for Christmas but she caught herself in time. DAMMIT. I also have to grab the final touches for her present, and I had a new idea for Jeanne's and I'm very excited about that, too. *bounce* *bounce* *bounce* We're going to exchange presents this Friday, I can't wait!!!

Jeff cracks me up. I'd bought this home-remodeling book on Amazon for Ellie's Jeff. They were obviously going to remodel their home. But they just decided against it. Doh! Jeff has been coming in my office for weeks, pawing the book lovingly. When I told him today about Ellie and Jeff he positively beamed. He said, "Ohhhh...but perhaps there's another friend... another person in your life who would like this book...you wouldn't even need to change the name on the card!" He was quite gleeful. So I tossed him the book and he immediately stopped talking to me and started fondling the book until I tossed him out of my office. I can't wait to give him his other presents. He's absurdly easy to shop for. And as gorgeous as his house-to-be is, there are some remodeling projects, so I'm very glad the book has found a happy home.

I talked to Allison today and she says she's going to check in with the condo's tenants and just keep tabs on them leaving, because I have nightmares about it nightly. I really don't have much left to pack and can probably leave what's left for Friday. I had a great talk with Kelly about paint and I'm just about all decided and need to send him room measurements and ....my god it's happening. It's so close! This is my last Monday in this apartment!I can't believe it. I'm terrified the other shoe is going to drop, but until it does I'm going to keep my fingers crossed.
