slow but steady
Jan. 5th, 2006 11:47 pmThe bedroom is officially 100% unpacked. And lo there was joy. Also a phone call from Sarah!! It was really nice to hear her voice and catch up with her. I can't wait for her to get back here. Of course she returns the weekend my dad visits. So meh to the Calamitous God of Timing.
Today went by so fast. I caught up with Judy this morning, who has the Cold of Death, poor baby. Work was busy, exhaustingly so. But I got some really nice feedback from my boss and my boss's boss and that's always nice. I also made some progress on a frustrating project, so that made me happy. I just want a few days off, but I don't want to until the conference stuff is launched, just in case. And it's really not that far away. I'm taking the next two Fridays off, which will make my Martin Luther King weekend especially nice. My dad is coming up the following weekend, and I'm going to take that Friday off, too. By the end of January, I hope to have all the trim painted, and maybe even the kitchen painted. That would be exciting. Maybe new blinds and closet doors if things work out really well.
Wow, I'm tired.
I met an incredibly nice neighbor, too. My first HOA dues were supposed to be in by 8AM this morning, but I thought they were supposed to be in by 6PM. I felt like an idiot for not doing it yesterday, but between work and unpacking and running errands, I just lost sight of it. When I got to my door, there was an envelope. I opened it anxiously, only to find a note from the treasurer--a really sweet, welcoming note. I called her (as she requested) and went over immediately with the check and she was SO NICE. Also, their place is gorgeous, with an even larger and better shaped kitchen. And it gave me some ideas for my own. (Must. Have. New. Beveled. Doors.) Also, we commiserated over the Genuinely Hideous Closet Doors.
Ambitions for renovations aside, it'll just be fucking glorious to have the office unpacked. If only so I can shut the fuck up about it already.
My shelves arrive tomorrow (ostensibly) and I've got to pick them up from South Center Dania this weekend. I've somehow managed towheedleconvince Jeff into helping me move even more furniture this Sunday. His move is coming up around the bend, and I'm grateful for the chance to repay the favor. Although at this rate, I need to help Jeff move 6x before we're even. And he won't let me buy him lunch forever as was my suggestion.
I'm hoping to have the energy to go to both Restoration Hardware and Fred Meyer tomorrow to pick up the few missing pieces. Saturday morning is going to be all about painting. Then! I might get to see Jeff and Chris's new place! I didn't think I'd get to see it until move-in, so this is very exciting!
Oh, and Kim's party is Saturday afternoon. It'll be so great to see her and Chuck again; it's been ages! And then I'll have all day Sunday to Get Things Done. I'm glad Stitch 'n Bitch didn't work out for this weekend. I'm not ready for it, anyway. But once the sofas and shelves are all in place by next Thursday, I will be. I can't get over the excitement of having enough room to entertain. It makes me happier than I can express (not that that's going to keep me from burbling about it).
Now sleep. Much needed sleep.
