Okay, first of all insomnia sucks. Bloody inconvenient.

Next, when one finally does fall asleep despite insomnia, one isn't thrilled to be jarred awake by a fire alarm that is not heralding an actual fire, but is instead simply frightening the cat. (Not that I wish it had been an actual fire instead of some malfunction.)

Third, if a fire actually ever does occur, I'm going to die, because it takes me forever to wake up and process what the fuck is actually happening, despite blood pouring from ears.

And fourth, now awakened, I can't go back to sleep. Motherfucker.

Though on the positive side, at least here, with the fire alarm, concerned neighbors came out of their homes and gathered in the lobby and it was easier to ascertain what the fuck had happened with the association members striding around briskly, sussing out what was happening.

We got woken up at 4am or so, by the animal hospital's answering service, about a dog that was having trouble breathing. P didn't go, because there's a 24-hour emergency clinic staffed to handle these things (he really can't do much when it's just HIM at the hospital alone, people don't seem to get that). He's going to stop the service from calling after midnight... he was so anxious afterwards he couldn't get back to sleep. I slept okay, but not the best. After the call, I said, "I hope they actually TAKE THE DOG TO GET HELP TONIGHT." Yeah, well, this morning the hospital called at 8am when the techs got there and said that the people were already there WAITING WITH THEIR DOG. Yeah, the dog who was "struggling to breathe" last night. People suck so bad. I hope when this old lady is having trouble breathing someday, her kids wait until the morning to take care of it.

People are such unrepentant assholes. They have no problem inconveniencing their vet, but they're far less apt to inconvenience themselves! Hiss!!

Yeah. I mean, if one of our pets needed some special medical care that P couldn't provide in an emergency - I'd drive over an hour if I had to.
