Okay, first of all insomnia sucks. Bloody inconvenient.
Next, when one finally does fall asleep despite insomnia, one isn't thrilled to be jarred awake by a fire alarm that is not heralding an actual fire, but is instead simply frightening the cat. (Not that I wish it had been an actual fire instead of some malfunction.)
Third, if a fire actually ever does occur, I'm going to die, because it takes me forever to wake up and process what the fuck is actually happening, despite blood pouring from ears.
And fourth, now awakened, I can't go back to sleep. Motherfucker.
Though on the positive side, at least here, with the fire alarm, concerned neighbors came out of their homes and gathered in the lobby and it was easier to ascertain what the fuck had happened with the association members striding around briskly, sussing out what was happening.
