Feb. 20th, 2006 09:08 amSince the plumber's window is between 8-10, I found that I just couldn't sleep. I've been tossing and turning and peering at the clock since about 6AM. I finally gave up and got up around 7:30. I didn't want to be caught half aslsep and have to stumble frantically for clothes.
Hobbsie has been having some problems with his litter box lately. I still haven't been able to figure out quite how he keeps doing this, but he seems to pee in his box and then step directly into it--hard--so that he comes out of the litter box with a big clump of wet litter stuck all over his back paw. Sometimes his front paw. Definitely between his toes. Now, due to his diabetes, he pees more than your average cat. But I scoop the litter box twice a day to make sure it's clean, and he doesn't have to hunt for a clean spot. And sometimes this happens right after his litter box is cleaned. It used to be once in a great while. Lately it's been every day. It's horrible. He can't clean a paw that caked with goopy litter, and he tracks it all over my flat. So I have to pick him up and hose it off in the sink. Which he likes not at all. You'd think I was skinning him alive from the racket he makes. It's all been very unpleasant.
While at Target with Amy yesterday I finally decided to try that weird white crystal litter. It doesn't clump, it absorbs, which seems a perfect solution for me. I'm to scoop out solid waste, and redistribute the wet crystals for better absorption. The label claims that for one cat, one container will last two months. If it lasts a month, I'll be pretty excited. So this morning, after another episode of Catch the Cat, Clean the Paw, I've switched litter. No idea how this is going to play out, but I'm curious.
And now, with no further ado, it is time to paint.
