I feel a little crazy, but I think I'm going to buy a bread machine. Yes, a bread machine. That item that everyone gets on their wedding registry list, but no one uses. Though I used to once work as a nanny for this couple who made a loaf every other day.

I've always wanted one. And I think I would actually use it. So, once this idea popped into my head, I went to look on Amazon, and this bread machine is on sale for like $60 (from $140) and the reviews for it are only good.

I think it's going to be too tempting to pass up. I wonder if I can make half-loaves. One of my biggest bread complaints is that I can never get through a loaf before it rots. Also, I've tried kneading my own bread and I rather hate it. So I'm never going to be a home-made bread maker in any other way.

Go for it! We have one - we, uh, got it from the wedding registry :) - and it's really handy. You also may find, depending on the machine, that it makes regular loaves that are *already* about half the size of store-bought ones (ours does).

I did it! I get it on Wednesday!

And that's a great point--I remember how manageable those loaves were when I made them as a nanny. And they were so unbelieveably good.

Also, I feel particularly good these days because I've started setting money aside for a new car and for the Dyson vacuum I've decided I have to have. But I'm making myself save up for it first. *clearly wanting a gold star*

Yay!! You'll have to make a zillion loaves on Wednesday.

Also, good for you for saving up for the things you want! It's less fun during the saving part, but the part where you get to go buy something horrendously expensive with no guilt is really satisfying. *gold star*

(Heh. Apparently, we've been influencing each other - because as I harass you into saving, I just went out and bought a $150 digital camera on a whim an hour ago. :) Hey, our old one broke yesterday, and this was the newer fancier version that *should* have cost $250.... but I blame you and Archaica!)

Muhahahaha! That's awesome!

While I think that saving up is nice and responsible, there is something so wonderful about satisfying a whim. And hey, it was still a practical decsion (cheaper! and yours broke!).

You need that camera to keep all of us fans in kitty pictures!

At least you got in the discount/cheapness factor.

I really want one too, at least when I am not on Atkins. Fresh bread.... yum!

Fresh bread is of the good for sure. But everything's got a payoff, I am dying of envy over the cheese and eggs you can eat :)
