Catching up on TV

Grey's Anatomy

My hatred for Alex grows every week. Can't they kill him off?
Yay for George finally getting some well-earned smoochies.

West Wing
OMFG Josh and Donna. So awkward!! But, I guess pretty realistic. I'm still sad that it didn't ...do more for them.

And who did Bruno piss off in the hair dept? He looks like Dorothy Hamil.

Oh, Leo. *sad* I mean, I knew it was coming. But, still. And I knew this episode would just be a giant tease.

Watching this is just making me antsy. I want the election over. And it makes me realize that I already feel like throwing up when I think about the next election in '08.

As much as I dislike Alex and still believe that he needs a grade-A asskicking, I don't think that he was fundamentally wrong here -- the doctors *do* lie to their patients all the time, and the lie that this woman was perpetuating was potentially devastating for her daughter.

What I found funny was Burke's insistance that bedside manner is important for a surgeon. Since when? It's pretty common knowledge that, while doctors tend to be arrogant overall, surgeons are the MOST arrogant, and generally look at patients less as whole people and more as parts to be removed or repaired by their Magical Surgeon Hands of Superiority.

But then, "Grey's Anatomy" is written by people who work in Hollywood, not in hospitals.

Also -- yay, George!

I totally hate it when doctors lie, but I haven't honestly known many to do that. (I grew up surrounded by them.) In fact, they've always seemed to give the worst case scenario to sort of cover their ass.

I think I would be able to better tolerate the honesty portion, but it hasn't been Alex's call to bludgeon people with the truth the way he has--which you're obviously covering with the part about him needing an ass-kicking.

God, I hate him. Such a judgemental prick.

My doctor friends, particularly the surgeons, hiss pretty emphatically about the realistic portrayal of medicine in the show. It's entertaining.
