Not bad for a few hours worth of work! Grocery shopping was probably the worst of it. It's pouring out there and chilly. Ick. It was glorious to come back home. And now:
- chocolate cakes are done, and in the fridge, chilling
- pasta sauce is on the stove, simmering
- my place is tidy, just need to do laundry, and dishes are a-washin' in the dishwasher
For tonight, I just need to:
- clean and toss the bibb lettuce leaves with vinaigrette
- make the crostini and bruschetta
- start the loaf of rosemary french bread
I forgot from last time that the damn bread machine needs to run a rapid, empty cycle the first time. Worst case scenario, it won't be ready in time. But I figure, they're going to get here at 6, we'll have appetizers and drinks and catch up. That buys me a little extra time. So, we'll see. I also packed up the broken machine and will haul it to the office so our lovely shipping department can mail it for me. Bonus? The shipping guy is very cute.
I think I'm going to take a brief break and enjoy the day before going in for round two of preparation. Though, really. I should put the blinds up. Le sigh.
On another note, I went to check out the Robert Mondavi Winery Web site today. I'd bought a pretty plate from them in Napa a decade ago, and just wanted to see if they offered dishware online. I was startled to find that their site requires you to input your age, stating you have to be 21 years old to enter. Really? A winery site? Is it because you can buy it online, or something? I mean... is there wine porn? So confusing.
