Maybe it doesn't like the address... er, doesn't look like Flickr uses plus signs -- too long, maybe?

I think it's too long. Because when I remove the extra five freaking characters (no plus signs) it works. Otherwise, the phone explodes.

I may set up a redirect from a simpler account, is all I can think of doing to circumvent.

Yeah, I was going to recommend a redirecter e-mail address. A pain, but feasible. What a silly restriction for your phone to have, though.
