So after Jeff picked me up this morning, we figured out way for him to further serve my needs. He had an appointment in Ballard. I had the strong desire to leave work at 3PM. Voila!

And really, it's so beautifully sunny outside (if cold), I could easily take the bus home. But why on earth would I want to do that when I can sit in Cafe Vérité and drink lattes and wait for him to finish his errand and come pick me up and drive me home?

I couldn't come up with a reason either!

And also? Cupcakes! I had a red velvet one with cream cheese frosting. And also also? Free wifi! I'm actually on my work laptop, churning through a project that refuses to die.

I feel surprisingly sanguine in the face of seemingly unending marcomm projects which keep a-coming. After two years here, I feel like ...well, it's all going to be alright. I've got a lot of conference and Web site management under my belt.

And also, the oddly delightful thing that I keep forgetting? We have MLK day off on Monday! So this is actually a long weekend. But it just doesn't seem possible. And yet, it is! Sarah and I are going to make a day of it, since she also has that off.

Pete and I are going to go see The Pursuit of Happyness this weekend. It'll be good to see Will Smith, and he really seems to want to diversify his roles, and I'm all about supporting that. I think it will be sappy and sentimental and it doesn't matter, because I'm sure I'll cry. Pete points out that it will be an Oscar contender, and I do like to see those unless I can't bear 'em.

Also, dying to see Children of Men and also Little Children. So hopefully that will happen in the weeks to come, too.

God. It's the weekend. How glorious. Jeff and I are starting up the Farmer's Market again. I'm going to try some new recipes out this weekend from a WW cookbook I pony'd up for. The Golden Globes are on Monday night.

Life is pretty damn good!

Just, wheeeeeeeeee!!!!

Grr, we don't get MLK day off. (I started typing MILK day - haha, stupid typing is so ingrained in my head.)

My coworker says Children of Men was very good.

Oh, bummer. And really, this is the first company that's given it to me off, too.

Children of Men's been getting great reviews, so I'm looking forward to it!

I expected to love that movie and it was just 'meh' to me. I was bummed. I'll be curious to see what you think.

Which one? Happyness or Children?

Happyness. It never made me care, which surprised me. I'm a total sap, I'll cry at ANYTHING. That one made me sniff for about two seconds at the end and only out of real manipulation of emotion heh...

Will Smith was just never quite believable as a poor guy. Ha.

For what it's worth, I have pretty low expectations of this one. It seems pretty predictable and feel-good-y. Which isn't the worst it could be, but I'm not surprised to hear it's sorta meh!

Go see children of men before you go see the pursuit of sappyness.

Yeah, unfortunately that's not going to happen. But hope to see Children of Men soon!
