I am so pissed off at Grey's Anatomy.

This is poorly edited ranting, so my apologies in advance. At least I can put it behind a cut.

It's not like I ever took the show seriously. It was a bit of fun on whatever night it started airing.

But this whole THREE PART EVENT is pretty fucking horrific. Just hate everything about it.

  • Right, Mer falls off the pier and makes no attempt to swin, let alone stay afloat.
  • But Derek is able to immediately find her and walk her up the dock himself.
  • Because, stupid girls actually DO need knights no matter what they say.
  • Hated the creepy mini-meredith girl. How very children of the corn.
  • FURIOUS with Izzie --who has been one of my favorite characters-- for her bombastic speech. She is NOT being a good friend at all to George. Good friends actually care more about how happy their friends are in their relationship (and if the new boy/girl friend cares about their friend) than if they think the new boy/girl friend is cool enough to be part of their club. And how shitty to keep harping on George about marrying Callie. And at every fucking turn. Once the wedding has happened, there's nothing you can fucking do --so FUCK OFF IZZIE. And it needs to be because you actually think that person is BAD for your friend or doesn't care about your friend, which Callie has never displayed. GOD that pissed me off. And what a weird and annoying speech to make when everyone is upset about the possibility of their friend dying in the next room. Have faith, believe, whatever --just fucking do it quietly.
  • Burke doesn't get Cristina and never fucking will. His appreciation for her moving an inch (for example, moving in with her, agreeing to his hare-brained proposal) lasts for all of three seconds. Considering the incredibly terrible position he put her --an INTERN-- into with his hand thing, and then not even being able to wait a few hours for her request that she tell her friends before he blurts it out to Derek really pissed me off. And enough with penalizing her every time he doesn't get his way with giving her grunt work vs. surgeries. This is why you're not supposed to be dating your fucking superiors --because they will not always act professional when they are personally peeved with you. Their relationship actively annoys me because he constantly wants her to change into what HE needs instead of trying to better understand her. GOD. Give the woman five seconds of breathing room, please. And why on earth did he propose? Why not actually try to have a functional relationship FIRST. What a novel fucking idea.
  • And what the fuck was up with all the fucking pages. Really? Izzie and Mark would be pulled out of surgery to wait in the hallway for Mer? They aren't immediate family, and so no matter how close they are --would hospital staff pause in the middle of this colossal accident where everything is a clusterfuck to page four interns they need to be working to sit vigil outside of Meredith's room while they've just started working on resuscitating her?

However, the one thing that I did find touching was Mark and Addison's genuine care for Derek. They've been through a lot together and Mark was his best friend once, for a very long time. Sometimes even when things have gone horribly wrong between you, the only person who can comfort you is that person who was once your best friend.

I'm curious to see if they'll let her die. Apparently Shonda Rimes has been blathering about how she doesn't obey the rules of television, but it seems unlikely they'll kill off the titular character.

And it's this whole thing that annoys me even more. What the fuck is this show supposed to be about, even. The lives and melodrama of these interns. What will killing off one of the main interns do for the show? Having Denny die (that story line also enraged me--and again, how fucking dare Izzie judge someone else about leaping into a relationship, she fucking got engaged to a patient she barely knew) and hurl Izzie into a pit of despair for so long was one thing, but there was no point to kill one of the interns and fuck up everyone emotionally.

Just bad decisions all around. Maybe Shonda Rimes is as melodramatic, immature, and irresponsible as the interns she created.

    HISS.

This is poorly edited ranting [...]

Is there any other kind?

Right, Mer falls off the pier and makes no attempt to swim, let alone stay afloat.

I just figured that she hit her head or the water was so damned cold that she got hypothermia. Plus, she cannot swim, yes?

[...]And what a weird and annoying speech to make when everyone is upset about the possibility of their friend dying in the next room. Have faith, believe, whatever --just fucking do it quietly.

Word.

Still want to marry her, though. She bakes! She's gorgeous! She's a surgeon and a lingerie model.

Okay, okay, so she's kinda cracked, but still....

I'm curious to see if they'll let her die. Apparently Shonda Rimes has been blathering about how she doesn't obey the rules of television, but it seems unlikely they'll kill off the titular character.

She's not going to die. That's why they made such drama over her low basal body temperature. She's basically been refrigerated to death, but can be thawed.

p.s. I realized why I prefer usenet - lj doesn't auto-quote the previous post.

And I'm doing this on Links via my shell, so there will be no quoting at all from me.

But --

There is the properly-edited rant!
I don't remember about her not being able to swim, but it would have been nice to see her actually splash aroudn in effort, rather than melodramatically bob twice and sing.
Still furious at Izzie, who is hot and normally lovable, but I found her speech unforgiveable.

And I really don't think she's going to die either, but a number of people at TWOP seem to think it's a possibility.

Are you watching Survivor this season?

I have been watching Survivor, although I only saw the first half of the last episode. I don't even have opinions of any of the cast yet.

It's almost impossible to have acurrate impressions this far early in --except about "Dreamz" --it's clear I'm going to hate him.

Izzy Stevens
60% confidence, 62% compassion, 71% dedication
Isobel Stevens is anything but a dumb blonde. In fact, she’s a very intelligent, determined woman. Her strongest point is probably being able to comfort her patients. However, her compassion can sometimes be her weakness. She also isn’t the most confident of the interns. But, she’s definitely the hottest. ;)

In "defense" of Merideth not swimming.. You ever been dumped into the ocean in the winter? You have minutes before you are basically a stone. I went through the ice on a pond when I was a kid and the shock to my system alone made me not struggle.. I just found myself willing to hover in the water and let everything go numb..

And in those minutes, I would have liked to have seen her splash around and not just serenely sink. After watching her strange sinking/drowning behavior in the bathtub in the previous issue, I think they were drawing a parallel, but I just didn't like it.
