It has been the best few days, with my cousin Mo visiting.
She got in late Friday night, and after a frantic hour (because I left my cell at Sarah's and we couldn't find each other), all was well.
We stayed up until 4AM, catching up and watching a movie, because we were too wired to go to sleep. (We picked the light and funny Scoop, so we could drool over Hugh Jackman.)
Saturday morning we slept in, grabbed lunch at the 74th St Alehouse, went to U Village to pick out some presents for Zach, and then spent the afternoon with my brother's family.
We concluded our evening at Brad's Swingside Cafe and went home to watch another Hugh Jackman film --The Prestige.
Sunday morning, I had another bout of corneal scratching. Not sure why this is happening, but it really hurt! I decided to ignore the ER this time, and just sucked it up. We met Jeff at Greenlake and had lunch at Sofrito Rico. We met Pete at Pacific Place and watched Fracture (which was good, but we HATED the lame-ass, pointless, totally stupid romantic angle). Pete took us out for dessert, and then we had to head home to make dinner and hang out with Sarah.
So that was excellent. Sarah left and we stayed up watching X-files and reading comic books.
I was completely bemused on Monday because I didn't have to go to work. It felt so decadent! After such a busy weekend, we decided to laze around the house, cook a few things, and generally just unwind. It was glorious, but the day went by so so fast.
Tuesday, another day-off from work, but we met Jeff and Pete for lunch at an alehouse in Ballard. Afterwards, I decided I needed some exercise, so we went round Greenlake again. Mo treated me to a French manicure, and then we went back home to cook dinner because an old high school friend of Mo's has moved here.
It was a lot of cooking and running around and totally worth it. After dinner, I played on the net for awhile to give her some time to catchup with her friend, and eventually she took off. Mo and I made an attempt to stay up and watch something, but about 10 minutes into the Seinfeld episode, we both passed out asleep on the couches.
It was good we went to bed early, actually, because this morning was a bit tight. Mo wanted to do laundry, and we had to drive out to Issaquah to visit Mo's father's adopted Godmother, Lois, who lives in a senior community out there. What a sweet lady. But those places always make me so sad. We've never had a family member go to one, and while I don't think there's anything wrong with them, they feel strange and lonely to me.
After our visit, we booked to the airport and got Mo to her flight on time.
I'd finished all my open projects on Friday night, so I'm back at work and feel a little out of sorts.
But it's okay, because the day's almost over and tomorrow is Thursday. My folks fly into town on Friday, so this weekend is going to be packed, too.
I am going to miss Mo. She is a fantastic guest. But I am also excited to go home after work and get some of the required stuff done:
- pick up dry cleaning
- make bed with fresh linens
- finish all the dishes from the dinner
- deal with the condo treasurer stuff
In other potentially exciting news, we are really moving forward with getting a manager for our building. I'm hoping that next month will be the last that I have do so much work for this place!
I'm dying to see the new Nathan Fillion movie (Waitress) because he is hot and the movie seems quirky.
So much to look forward to this summer!
- new Harry Potter book!
- new Harry Potter movie!
- new Pixar movie!
- new Spiderman movie!
and at the end of the summer:
HAWAII! (still not over it)
