It's just been such a nice weekend! My month off has gotten off to a great start.

Sarah and I took Henry to see Dr. Henkle, only to find that there was a misunderstanding and Henry was scheduled with the other, very nice vet. We saw the other vet (whose name I can't recall) and she was great. Henry did so well! He had two shots and handled them like a champ. He was totally done with the whole visit after and tried to claw his way out of the cardboard box.

To that end, Sarah and I went to Mud Bay and got him a nylon carrier and food and things. Then we ran Henry home, and Sarah and I got some lunch at the Ballard Ale House (which is not called that, but that's what I call it). Sarah also dropped me at Les Schwab to pick up my car, with its new exciting tires. It's awfully nice to drive in the rain and not fear that the car is going to slide its way into a tree.

I went home and called Jeff and asked him to tell me to get off my ass and go run around Greenlake. He did, and then called me ten minutes later to ask if he could join me! So we met up and made our way around the 3-mile track. I haven't worked out or done anything resembling exercise in so goddamn long. I was wiped out but not limping. Exercise definitely needs to be a part of my month.

Jeff and I also ran to Whole Foods to buy more Meyer lemons, as he's trying to make a glorious marmalade. I am so excited, it's been a dark two years without Jeff preserves!

I dropped Jeff off in the U District to get his hair cut and went home to hang out with Hobbes until it was time to get dressed and go over to Jeff's. His very cool real estate agent takes them out to dinner now and then and invites them to parties. Since Chris was out of town, I was Jeff's escort. I had a complete meltdown when I couldn't find my favorite tights and almost had to settle for a repulsive alternative, but then tragedy was averted and I found them!! I set out for Montlake and we hung out for a long while before leaving for the party.

In kitty news, post-vaccination, Brutus has been feeling punky and not eating. Jeff put in a call to Dr. Henkle, but for some reason she wasn't able to get back in touch with him on Saturday. He's drinking, going to the bathroom, and still mobile, but clearly not himself. So there's some anxiety, although we hope it's just vaccination-related ick. Poor Jeff's been trying everything to convince him to eat, including homemade baby food (pureed chicken and rice). I am so glad tomorrow is Monday and hopefully we can get a good professional opinion in here. If he'd seemed at all serious, Jeff would have taken him to the Emergency Vet Clinic, but he really seems mostly okay.

In other other kitty news, Buffy caught a rat the size of Nebraska and brought it to Jeff's office. He kindly sent me a photo and I silently had a cow imaging it was in my office.

In culinary news, I got to try Jeff's fantastic homemade, totally-not-in-a-bread-machine, sourdough bread (with wild yeast starter and lactobacili!).

Jeff didn't have his party dress on when I got there, so I hung out with Brutus and tormented Buffy (who doesn't understand how someone can be crazier than she is) while he showered and made himself pretty.

The party was fun. Lots of nice people and good food. We were probably there for a couple of hours hanging out with all kinds of new people. And then back to Jeff's. We crashed on the couch and watched The Soup. I was totally passing out, but Jeff coaxed me into staying until the hilarious end (he'd seen the end of the episode before). Tyra Banks is totally insane, that's all I have to say about that.

I got home around 1 or 2 and stripped in the entry hall, threw on my fuzzy pink robe, and actually passed out asleep before managing to put on my pjs.

Hobbsie let me sleep in until 9. (Isn't he the best?) I totally lazed around not accomplishing anything, until I threw myself out of the house for another Greenlake trek. I hurried back home and changed and was out the door immediately again for Julie and Mike's Welcome Baby party. It was really nice to see everyone. More great food. I got to see Kim and Chuck--I haven't seen those guys in FOREVER. So that was awesome.

I took off at 5 to visit my nephew and bring a belated birthday gift for my SIL, a just-because gift for my brother, and a because-you're-perfect gift for my nephew. Everyone was in great spirits and MY GOD MY NEPHEW IS SO FUCKING CUTE!! So that was awesome fun.

I'm home now and I've done no baking, and I have a heap of things to accomplish tomorrow, but it doesn't even matter because I'm in such a great mood!
