[Poll #1221068]

(Posted in honor of the guy here who wears them EVERY DAY.)

Edited to add: Judging from the results, maybe my bias is coastally based?

Dated? Jeans can go out of date? Uh-oh. :)

(OK, OK, so the blaze orange or hot pink or something, I could see. But it never occurred to me that black jeans might be a fashion trend in the first place.)

I have a sort of irrational dislike of them. (In that my dislike is irrational, not that I see red when I see them or anything.)

And I am clearly in the minority here. I'm a blue jean purist, apparently!

Hey, I'm obviously the last person to throw stones on pet peeves!

Black jeans were a little dressier look in my opinion, but I still wouldn't have worn them to work! Actually, I think I felt that way as the flip side of your blue jean purism - only blue jeans are "jeans," in the informal comfy sense. To me, the black ones can pass for pants-ish things for somewhere that casual pants would be acceptable, if that makes sense.

Also, I should share that I really love a super dark wash on blue jeans. It's just the black that bothers me. Any colored denim really.

And it's not so much that it's not dressy enough here in The Land of Hoodies and Shorts. I just don't like 'em!

Whereas I'm not thrilled about the dark-wash kind. :) Maybe you're right and it is partly a coastal thing!

With that said, wearing the same thing to the office EVERY day is still a fashion faux pas of some sort...

All the answers so far make it seem regional!

And yeah, also! there's this guy on my bus route who wears the same black corduroy pants every day --all winter and spring. But today! Today he had a pair of shorts on! They must be his biking clothes or something.

And the office guy --I think he just has lots of pairs of black jeans. Or so I hope.

I hope so, too!

I also hope that the bus guy's shorts were decently appealing. :) At least it was a change...

I have black jeans (after avoiding them for some time), but I'm indifferent to them. I prefer dark blue jeans without a hint of stonewash or "whiskering" (great idea - make my hips look even WIDER, thank you). I like them on some people - I guess it depends on the outfit.

I like the whiskering, but not on my child-bearing hips, too!

And I love a really dark wash, too!

I didn't vote because none of those options fit me. There is no, "Every time I think of them, I picture tapered black jeans and my stupid ex boyfriend so they annoy me" option..if you had had that, I would have voted :P

I've been wearing black jeans since the 80s, and I see no reason to stop now.

And I'm sure you look great in them. It's nothing personal, I just hate them and this poll is only demonstrating that you are all clearly insane!

It totally depends on the cut.

Thanks!

I can appreciate that. There have been some retro trends recently that made me go "oh, please, God, no--not that! Bring back ANYTHING but that!"

And let's face it--classic, tapered black jeans really are pretty dreadful.
