So yesterday, I had a moment of deep seated fear. Could my love for Christian Bale be wrong? Was he a mom-and-sister-abuser? In spite of his awe-inspiring talent and hot-hunky looks--could he be a jerk? Was this another case of a talented actor being a total crippling jerk (*waves to Russell Crowe*)?

Today, defamer tells me that his mom said some seriously outrageous things about his wife. And it was a verbal response and possibly a small push.

At first I wondered, 'but it got to the police station, that must have been bad, non?' But the more I think of it, the more I remember that not everyone's mom is made of Awesome. And it's possible that we, the Unwashed and Suffused with Lust public, will never know what really happened and I should go on enjoying my love for Christian Bale unfettered by concern over his personal life.

I'm feeling extra vapid lately. Can you tell?

i don't know criminal law in england, but given that it's the source of american common law i feel comfortable saying this:

christian bale was arrested for assault. assault at common law in the US is either an attempted battery or a threat of a battery. if it was only a verbal confrontation, then what likely happened is he said something like "i'll punch you in the face," which would be assault if she was reasonably in fear of an imminent battery.

in other news, six days until the bar. can you tell? :)

Is a 'reasonable' suspicion of assault enough? I've noticed reasonable can vary from, indeed, reasonable to "well, s/he said!" at least over here. They end up dropping the charges if they can't prove anything happened, but..

And go, Matt, go. :-D
