jeff is my hero
Oct. 22nd, 2008 08:56 amSo, every once in awhile, the kitchen gets out of hand. And yesterday was one of those nights. Usually I like to clean as I cook, but it doesn't always happen. The dishwasher was full and I should have just unloaded it but I didn't before I started cooking, and then Pete came over, and I also wanted to make apple cake because Jeff's been requesting it. The end of it is that the kitchen was an unholy mess. Sink piled up, counters sticky, pots and pans! Dogs and cats, living together, mass hysteria!
I was trying to clean it up late last night after Pete left, but Jeff ordered me to go to bed. And I was so freaking tired, I did.
But this morning? I mean, I can't even put it in words. He... he got up at like 6AM and CLEANED IT FROM TOP TO BOTTOM! It's like sparkling in there! I wandered in, still half asleep, and he was there, drying the last bowl. I gasped and he turned around beaming and said, "TA DAH!!!" And he gave me a big hug. He said, "I had some energy this morning." Um. Um. I couldn't stop petting the clean countertops and staring at it. (I am still not over it.)
It was like a Christmas miracle or something!!!
Anyhow, this has been a great start to the day. I totally slept in and decided to drive in. It's a pretty rare thing for me, so I don't mind. I have a lot of work ahead today, but I'm either going to work late at the office or bring work home. So it's all good.
And it's already Wednesday! *beam*
Last night was fun. Because the dvd player is still on the fritz, Pete and I played Sonic the Hedgehog with shrieking delight. The apple cake turned out well. Jeff's verdict is that you can taste the difference between the brown sugar and the maple sugar, but it's not disappointingly different. Pete's avowed to find me a cheaper maple sugar supplier, which is hilarious.
Okay, now I must shower and actually go to work!

Date: 2008-10-22 05:19 pm (UTC)Which reminds me, the sink at home is full of dishes left from last night's frying adventure. Note to self: make sure mozzarella stix are entirely encased in bread crumbs before frying. Otherwise there will be a cheesy mess.
