Introvert. There are very few people I can handle being around extensively.

There's seriously nothing going on here, because it's Thanksgiving week. (We get Thurs and Fri off, and most people take the whole week off.)

1. What are your nicknames?
Margo is the most common. I've also been called Mags, Margarine, Marzipan (oh yes)... The only nicknames I dislike are Peggy and Marge.

2. How do you style your hair?
I usually don't do anything other than brush it out. I've started straightening it every once in a while, and I just bought a curling iron, so I'm going to try curling it tomorrow.

3. What's new in your life right now?
My job's relatively new, I suppose

4. How many colors are you wearing now?
Black shoes, black pants with a blue pinstripe, blue sweater, brown camisole, pink underthings, silver-colored necklace, watch, and rings... and I'm still wearing my coat, which is black, white, and blue. So... six colors?

5. Are you an introvert or extrovert?
Introvert with people until I've known them for a year or so.

6. What was the last book you read?
Barack Obama, Dreams of My Father

7. Do you nap a lot?
No. I wake up groggy and stupid.

8. If you could only buy clothes from one store for the rest of your life where would it be?
Ann Taylor? Their stuff is expensive, though - do I get a discount or anything?

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Not very unhappy. My grandmother's still not doing that well, and she just decided that she's staying home for Thanksgiving instead of going to eat with my parents.

10. What was the last thing you ate today?
Just finished my Cream of Wheat.

11. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
I'm the same as you - I can get ready quickly, but I prefer more time. I got out of bed this morning around 7 am, and we left for work around 7:30 am.

12. What websites do you visit daily?
LiveJournal, my dad's blog, CNN, Facebook for the New York Times quiz, and gmail.

13. What classes are you taking right now? and if you're not in school anymore, what's your job?
Both! I'm taking an Emergency Management class, a Strategic Planning class (I do not like this class), AND my baking and pastry class. And I'm a Systems Engineer.

14. Do you like to clean?
Sometimes. I like to straighten and tidy, and I'll clean the kitchen or the bedroom when I'm in a good mood. But I hatehatehate cleaning the bathroom.

15. What's the last song that got stuck in your head?
We've been watching that BBC show, Coupling, and their theme song is "Perhaps." We were both singing/whistling it last night.

16. What are you doing right now?
Filling out this meme and thinking I should wash out my mug before the Cream of Wheat gets stuck to it.

17. Who was your childhood idol?
Idol? I'm actually not allowed to have those.

18. What would you do if you see $100 lying on the ground?
I agree with you - If it was just on the street and it didn't seem to come from any specific source, I would keep it. If it was clear who it came from, I'd try to catch them and give it back.

19. Best piece of advice you've received?
Don't worry about regretting things - it only makes you unhappy and can't change them. Concentrate on learning from your mistakes.

20. What's a huge pet peeve of yours?
Bad drivers and rude people. And junk mail.

Same here. So many people are out. And omg I just want to be done with this week!

Facebook for the New York Times quiz - what's that?

And it's so cool you're taking so many classes, esp the pastry one. Is that in Seattle or elsewhere?

Yeah! It's at the Art Institute of Seattle, which is a few blocks north of Pike Place Market. However, it's pretty expensive - my employer pays for any class at any accredited university, so I don't pay anything for it (except for parking). If I had to pay, I'd be a lot more likely to do community college courses, Sur la Table courses, or something like that.

That is SO awesome that they'll pay--even if it's not job related!

Yeah, in my opinion, that's one of the biggest perks of the job. There's a funny thing where you do have the pay the taxes (as if it's income) on some classes - I would have to pay taxes on the Art Institute classes if Boeing spent more than $5,250 per year on them. The IRS apparently clarified some rules, making it so that an MBA for non-managers fell into that category, too, which is why I'm really indecisive about getting my MBA. I've gotten to used to FREE classes that the idea of paying taxes makes the MBA sounds expensive, although I know I'm spoiled and I would be spending significantly less than most MBA students pay.

Sure, it's all about what you're used to, right?

We just went from having free medical/dental/vision insurance for single people to paying for it. We have a choice of a higher/lower plan but suddenly, I'm looking at about a $1200 paycut. You add in the $500 paycut I'm looking at because the new company has a shitty transportation subsidy (they don't give us a bus pas!), and it's a lot of money out of my pocket --and the small matching program for 401 doesn't really help me out right now.

SO MAD!

Ack! That does suck, and I think you're right that it's all about the comparison.

I wonder how they would respond if you asked for a larger-than-usual raise because of the cuts - although with the way things are going now, it might be better to just suck it up and not have to worry about them laying you off.

I'm going to ask, but I'm going to expect to hear no. And frankly, as much as it sucks, it would be a lot suckier to be out of work right now. So if the company needs me to suck it up so they don't have to layoff everyone--that's fine with me.

Arg, didn't finish my comment.

New York Times quiz! Every weekday, they ask five multiple-choice questions relating to the current news. They always have an image with the question, and occasionally, the image gives away the answer, but they usually manage not to. I'm not sure if it's available outside of Facebook - the Facebook page is here. I'm a big nerdy fan.
