One nice thing about not having watched BSG for the past month+ is that I had the chance to do a marathon viewing. Which, I think is best with this show.

I can't believe there are only two episodes left. This is definitely a show I wish I'd waited to see when it was all over. It was so crazy-making to wait between all the weird hiatuses. And with such a complicated plot, I used to get so confused. Watching it back-to-back's made that a lot less painful.








I wasn't surprised to see Ellen resurrected, but it was a pleasant surprise to see her so poised and calm. And since I hate Cavil (or rather, "John"), it was great to watch her torment him so calmly. But the minute she met up with Tigh again, she unleashed the crazy. Blah. Talk about two people who shouldn't be near each other. That was disappointing. Particularly the way he totally forgot about Caprica 6 and their baby and bonked Ellen like 20 seconds into seeing her again.

I can't believe Chief switched Boomer with another 8. I thought it was a little hard to believe that he could pull it off. How'd he switch bodies? Even in the dark, how'd he carry inert-8 in there and have Boomer walk out?

Also, I kept waiting for them to deal with Chief over it. How else could Boomer have escaped without his help--and with an alternate Boomer still locked in the brig?

Finally, I know it's the military and they can't be all warm and fuzzy about orders, but sometimes I wish there was more compassion in dealing with people. I can't help but think that if they'd been a bit more compassionate to Chief about Boomer and kept an eye on him--he wouldn't have been able to carry out his desperate act. And I would have really appreciated it if Adama could have been more compassionate to poor Helo. But again, that's one of 12,000 reasons why I could never be part of the military.

Poor Athena. This recap I was reading said about her: Athena's completely undone anyway. (To review: prostituted, raped, imprisoned for years, forced near-abortion, kid died, whoops kid kidnapped, shot in gut by husband, kid kidnapped, nearly raped, kid kidnapped, husband raped, kid kidnapped.)

When was she prostituted? And I've blocked all the rape stuff apparently--when was she raped? And when did Helo shoot her in the gut? (This is why, when this is all over, I need to do a massive re-watch.)

An amazing run of episodes. Wow. For an entirely depressing show, it is addictive. I'm grateful to only have a day to wait for part I of the finale.

By "prostituted" and "raped" do they mean when she was "set up" with Helo on Caprica? 'cause, otherwise .... and that's a "generous" reading of the story.

The "nearly raped" was in "Pegasus", when Chief and Helo rescued her.

And I suppose one could call what happened to Helo with Boomer "rape" ... I don't know that I would, but, OK.

She was shot in the gut because SHE ASKED HIM TO, to send her to the Cylon ship to rescue Hera when they were at the algae planet.

See, this is why online recaps are dumb - they are written by people who have ... interesting interpretations of the facts.

I can't believe there's only 2 episodes left, either. It's going to be very sad ....

the writer of the last episode said that they filmed a lot having to do with the Chief (he's in the brig, and confessed), but they took it out, and they'll put it back in when the show goes to DVD. When it comes out on Blu-Ray (including the mini-series, Razor, and the upcoming movie), I'll buy it!

I wouldn't have thought that Helo would have been part of the prostituted/raped stuff on Caprica. Very confusing.

Though I definitely agree that Boomer raped Helo. Helo did not agree to have consensual sex with Boomer. He was tricked and violated.

I love the recaps at TWoP, and I think this was mostly a snarky recap of the sucky times Athena's had. But you're right--the shot in gut by husband line was sorta bs the way it was included in there.

And thanks for filling in my brain on the almost-raped thing on Pegasus!

And thank you so much for that inside bit about Chief! And yes, I think I'm going to have to watch the dvds for the extra parts for sure. I never did watch Razor, and I didn't know there was going to be a movie!

Is the spin off show still on? New Caprica or something?

Yes, they have started production on Caprica. What I've read about it makes me guardedly optimistic.

The movie is called The Plan, and it basically covers the events of the whole series - from Cavil's point of view. So we'll if you want to watch it or not :)
