I've personally always liked iceberg lettuce. My friend Judy taught me to eat chunks of it to provide a contrasting crisp freshness to the greasy goodness of pizza. I'll admit to loving the wedge salad and while I've bought into the myth that iceberg lettuce is totally nutritionally-deprived, I think I may have to start using it again.

(This is also partially motivated by the fact that I just had some wild field mix that was oddly and unpleasantly grassy tasting. Bleh.)

On another green note, Swiss chard season's here and it is GOOD!

Iceberg definitely has its place although I have avoided it for years and instead grabbed darker bunches of greens. Glad to read that it's making a comeback in America.

It's so crisp! And some of the stir-fry recipes sound intriguing. I've also been gravitating towards darker greens, but it doesn't mean we can't love iceberg, too! :)

The field greens, butter lettuces and all have their place, but sometimes iceberg is the only thing that'll do. For example: a couple of times a month I make a big batch of "taco meat" (hamburger, chorizo and spices) and then use it for low-carb taco salads all week long. Iceberg's the only lettuce that'll hold up to the warm meat.

Iceberg! Iceberg! Rah rah rah! (Raw raw raw, even.)

Note to self: immediately make taco salad.

I've been meaning to make some, but keep getting thwarted. But this week: IT WILL BE DONE. And while I often chop up romaine for it, this time it's gonna be with iceberg!

Suddenly I don't want my sandwich for lunch anymore.
