This is the cake I just finished making for the Seattle Works dessert auction.

From Food

It's a vanilla cake, filled with raspberry, and frosted with a lemon curd cream cheese frosting.

I really need to buy a giant roulepat so I can use my dining room table to roll out fondant. My damn kitchen tiles really limit me to my pastry board sometimes and that just makes it a bit harder.

I wish I'd better layered the flowers so they were less flat on the cake, but I'm mostly okay with this second fondant effort. I draped it better than Milo's cake (which ended up quite lumpy), but it ended up being a wee bit short on two of the sides. It didn't matter because I knew I was placing extra panels there, but I hope the next time I do this (for Zoe's birthday party in November) that it'll be even better. Also, next time I'm going to do buttercream because it's recommended that fondant covered cakes not be refrigerated (due to condensation issues) and I always have a heart attack worrying about it.

I hope it doesn't end up alone and unwanted on the auction table!!

OMG WHAT. SRSLY WHAT.

You...you made? This?? THIS?? WHY ARE YOU NOT DOING THIS FOR A LIVING FOR REAL YO.

Amazing, simply amazing. And spare me the inevitable "oh but all the things wrong and Not A Chef and blah blah blah fishcakes" because whatever, you're crazy, the end.

So if I ever manage to get married again. Can I force you to make me a cake and thusly actually have you there? But more for the cake of course ;)

That is beautiful! Reminds me of the old "If I knew you were coming, I'd have baked a cake..." .wav you used to use on IRC all the time. :)

Very late, but I obviously have to leave a comment here too. We already know how the auction turned out. But my guess would've been that the main difficulty would be that people would want to buy and eat the cake already on the way to the auction and that it would never make it to the auction itself. :)
Looks delicious! The only downside I can think of that it almost looks too good to be eaten. But I'm sure I would've found a way around that "problem". :)

I don't know the dollar amount, but it went within the first 5 rounds out of 35!
