Seattle Works cake
Oct. 10th, 2009 11:43 amThis is the cake I just finished making for the Seattle Works dessert auction.
It's a vanilla cake, filled with raspberry, and frosted with a lemon curd cream cheese frosting.
I really need to buy a giant roulepat so I can use my dining room table to roll out fondant. My damn kitchen tiles really limit me to my pastry board sometimes and that just makes it a bit harder.
I wish I'd better layered the flowers so they were less flat on the cake, but I'm mostly okay with this second fondant effort. I draped it better than Milo's cake (which ended up quite lumpy), but it ended up being a wee bit short on two of the sides. It didn't matter because I knew I was placing extra panels there, but I hope the next time I do this (for Zoe's birthday party in November) that it'll be even better. Also, next time I'm going to do buttercream because it's recommended that fondant covered cakes not be refrigerated (due to condensation issues) and I always have a heart attack worrying about it.
I hope it doesn't end up alone and unwanted on the auction table!!
