God. What a freaking depressing episode.
Mike Isabella needs to get off my screen NOW. Why can't we swap Isabella and Tiffany for Dale and Angelo? Why??
The QF concept was cool. Though I could have gone my whole life without seeing Hosea again. It was hilarious seeing the Brother Voltaggio, as much as he was clearly hungover and as surly as ever. I'm surprised the former winners were offered money, vs. what seems like standard--'for the charity of their choice'.
If Isabella wins this thing by a fluke--and it would be a fluke--I will have a hissy fit. He's such a douche. Who the fuck says, "for the women, being here is an honor." Like they're some lesser beings, lucky to even be allowed in his presence. When most of his cooking seems totally mediocre.
It was enraging to see him win. Clearly everyone, including Isabella himself, was surprised.
And my Carla. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Yes, raw pork probably is worse than over-cooked shrimp or boring-whatever Tiffany made. But GOD. WHY? Why does she try to whip out new techniques--unnecessarily--in the final rounds? Why? WHY??
Though it really frustrates me that they're repeatedly asked to cook on unreliable equipment. I know luck is part of the competition--having challenges that favor some chefs vs others--but faulty basic equipment is just not right.
And Blais. God. Dude needs to pop a percocet or something. Though obviously my cooking skills aren't in the same galaxy as his, I could really relate to his 'I hate everything I do' bit. Some people on random forums think it's false modesty or a shameless grab for compliments. But he seems unhinged to me. And when I get over-spazzified about cooking, I can relate. And it has nothing to do with compliments, because when I'm feeling that way--even compliments bounce right off the impenetrable force field of my angst. But it makes me sad for him. Nothing seems to satisfy him, he even looks green when he wins. There's a lot of hate for him out there, and I don't get it. I can see how his intensity might be off-putting, but he's got such incredible talent and generosity in the kitchen. (Though, dude, enough with the sour grapes about not winning your season. You lost. It wasn't a mistake that Stephenie won.)
I really would like to see a final two of Blais and Antonia, and I just hope Isabella fucks up worse than Tiffany to round out the final three.
BAH!

And it's so frustrating when people like Tiffany--who I don't personally dislike, but who has sucked all season long--get by on sheer luck.
But YES--it was awesome to see Mike V! I wish we could have seen Brian too--he was my favorite brother!!
