Had a really late night. By late night, I mean 8am. But it was well worth it. It always is. Slept for a few hours and then woke up right before [livejournal.com profile] jeff_nw called to give his 12:30 eta. Hopped out of bed, because Jeff doesn't need to see cat puke all over the carpet. Did some general cleaning, dishes, garbage, etc. Was all ready to assemble Taco Soup, but knew needed a few items from the grocery store.

Went down to car. Battery's dead. Again. No lights left on, nothing that makes it my fault.

Very, very annoyed now. Don't have time to walk to store and make it back in time. Must call Jeff now and see if he's okay with going out to grab a bite, even though that'll slow us down on our project. Brhh.

I know Jeff'll help me jump start the car, but didn't need to replace a battery along with the two tires that are getting threadbare.

Also worried that it might not be the battery, but some other mysterious repair. Having paid off the car last September, I'd hoped for a respite from car-related expenses. Yeah, stupid. I know.

Ugh. And it's Sunday. It's going to be an ugly week at work. Horrible to get to Sunday afternoon and start dreading the week. I know it's just a bad patch and will get better. But between hating work and the enormous school projects, it's going to be a sucktastic week.

How old is the battery? They have a life of 4-10 years, and in more modern cars tend to die without warning.

Mine, for example, conked out on the Shoreline Highway in California last September. Started fine in the morning, refused to turn over that afternoon. The mechanic at the gas station very nicely didn't charge me for installation.

It's still the original battery. I bought it new in 1999, so that sounds possible. Though I'd prefer to be on the 10 year end of the spectrum.

And what a pain--guess I should be grateful it's dead in my garage and not out on the road somewhere.
