The release date of the upcoming Harry Potter book has been everywhere today. Sarah passed on an interesting article that resulted in much shrieking babble from me at work today.

This means I'm going to have to re-read book 2. *grumble* I love all the books, but Chamber of Secrets is the dullest of them, dammit. Ginny Weasely gets much more interesting in book 5.

Finished with Christmas cards, though I have the horrible feeling I'm missing someone. I think it's because a lot of cards were sent out with the cookies, so those people aren't on the list of just-cards. Which is also why I forgot to do this earlier--because I thought I already had. Hmph. I only wrote cards for the ones I mailed, but not the ones I hand delivered, so shit! I didn't actually mail cards to Kim & Chuck or KC & Jen or Jeanne. Dammit. Dammit. Dammit. They are the ones I've forgotten. D'oh!

Doing another batch of cookies and boxes this weekend for the people I didn't have addresses for the first round. At least it'll keep me busy! Just about everyone is out of town this weekend.

Cons: no one to play with
Pros: catch up on tons of stuff

My plans include knitting, quilting, baking (apparently my goal is to fully morph into AmishCat). To counter that, I'll be settling my new motherboard into it's new case. FINALLY. Can't put that off anymore. And am going to watch The Incredibles again. Yes, again. Whee!

I did finally get to watch all of RotK. Much more extensive rambling about this later. But I will say that finally seeing the scene where Eomer finds Eowyn's body in the Pelennor Fields was worth the wait. After a year of waiting for this scene, it still completely did me in to see him just HOWL. I love Karl Urban and he should immediately make himself available to give me a massage and um more. Want.

Fuckity fuck. Need to go to sleep, but really don't wanna. Today should be Friday, see?

Book 2 was definitely my least favorite. Either Book 3 or Book 6 is my favorite, with a slight edge to Book 3.

You rule.

Book 3 is my favorite, too! But a lot of people like the darker books 4 and 5. I love those, too. But the introduction of Lupin and Sirius in book 3 just rocked my world.

I think book 2 was everyone's least favorite. It's just the weakest.

Ha, I meant Book 5, not Book 6 as one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I'm not priviledged enough to have read book 6 yet. But Book 5 was very, very dark, darker than all the others, and I thought it was a really strong book. I think it's obvious that the books are maturing along with Harry himself. I hope Book 6 is as good or better, and I think it definitely could be.

I knew whatcha meant :)

And agreed--she's maturing Harry nicely. It's funny how angry book 5 made me--in the sense, that I could feel Harry's anger and frustration and it made me angry and frustrated, too.

She's really showing his (and Ron and Hermione and Ginny, etc etc) maturation into young adulthood very effectively.

Can't wait for book 6. I have high hopes for it, and I don't think she'll let us all down.

Curiously--what's your theory on if Sirius is dead? Yay or nay?

I'm not really sure about Sirius...for one thing, I hope he's dead. Not because I didn't like him, but because I think it would be a complete cop-out by JKR if he was really alive. And I think I've heard her say in interviews that he really is dead, and Harry will have to come to terms with that. But I don't think he's inaccessible. Harry still has that mirror, and I'm sure that that wall-thingy (I haven't read the book in a while, so I'm forgetting some of the names of the things) will play an important part in the next books. And maybe there's a painting of him somewhere. So who knows.

I agree. I don't want his death to have been this meaningless misery she just put us through. But I keep hoping she can find some way to bring him back to be able to interact with poor Harry.

It was horrible to have him lose Sirius.

We'll see. Thank god for finally having a release-date, though!
