Had a pretty good morning. Work was fine. Some touchups on the finished site. There's more work to be done there, but it's a huge relief to have it up and running.

Amazing how having groceries in the house makes life easier. Tried a new sandwich this morning and rather loved it. Roasted red pepper hummus and smoked turkey on whole wheat.

I need to go to Top Banana and buy some produce since that's the one thing I didn't do yesterday.

Had scary phone interview with nice woman. She said they'd had an overwhelming response to the position. Am a bit sad because I'm not sure I'm going to make the cut because they want someone with a lot of design background and my experience is heavier with the technical aspect. I'm preparing myself for a rejection letter and trying to explain to my inner 3 year old that if a job isn't a good fit, it's nothing personal. Wah.

Have different interview tomorrow for entry-level position. If they offer me the job, I'll take it, but it's a bitter pill to swallow. 0.71 x the hourly rate I make now for 3.5 x the hours. Before taxes. Ouch. Regardless, it'd be full time work and I might be able to continue my consulting work in the evenings/weekends to make ends meet. And it's a good company, so I'd have room to move up. And/or keep looking for another job.

And now to get ready for some swimming.

I did it! I did it! I finally went swimming. Yes, I know I've been saying I'm going swimming since last December, but I actually did it! It was very exciting. I even bought some spanking new goggles. That don't leak! And I'm going to try to go on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays. That is the new plan.

On the way home, stopped at Top Banana and went hog wild. I didn't buy much of anything, but I bought a lot of different things. I'm sure the cashier loved ringing up 10 different things instead of a nice bag of something.

I bought: two white peaches, three pluots, a mango, an apple, a white nectarine, two Asian pears, mushrooms, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, a cucumber, garlic, baby carrots, ginger, and two baking potatoes.

Oddly, I really want fruit flavored yogurt now. If I had plain vanilla I could just chop up some fresh fruit onto it. Must make note to buy some yogurt and frozen peas (for the mushroom curry I'm planning). Oh and tomato paste.

Had a nice chat with [livejournal.com profile] jeff_nw today about the job search. We agreed that it's always so much easier to have perspective when it's not about yourself. Which is where friends come in so damn handy. Yes, even if I have to take a shit entry level job, I won't be there forever. And it's high time I get back into the swing of things, right? And if I work for a good, solid company, then that's really the best start.

Also? Medical benefits. Not to be sneezed at. It's funny. I was feeling so desperate, There are days I would sell myself out for a minimum wage job, but then I see a position with a reasonable salary and it's weird--it's like that reminds me too much of how much I used to make, which while never an assload, was a decent wage for my education/background. Starting over sucks. But I have to remember that I hated my job and dreaded every morning. I did all this to work toward not being miserable.

No one said it was going to be easy.

This? Almost too funny to be allowed. Nearly died laughing.
