So, I've never had a company not give a shit about losing my business. I wrote them a polite email saying that despite repeated efforts to get help, I haven't. That I was disappointed because they used to be such a great company. And that I've switched to Comcast. I said I wanted a refund for July that they just charged my card for. I wasn't bitchy or rude.

I got back a one-line response: Your account has been cancelled. Your account has been refunded for July.

That's it. It's just kind of weird. I don't care so much, because I've actually solved my own problem. But I have to admit I'm curious if they're going out of business or if they're under new management.

I mean, I realize they know there's nothing they can do because I've already found another ISP, so there's no point in offering me a free month or anything. But no apology or explanation for their lack of response. Huh.

I suppose if their customer service is so bad, it should be a relief that you actually got you refund.

I cancelled my lawn care service a year or so ago when my neighbor who also did lawn care talked me into doing it instead (and cheaper) -- I probably shouldn't have, he butchered my poor plum trees and I felt so guilty when I got the final notice from the old place.

Well, I'm still waiting to see if they refund my money or not. But I was relieved they didn't kick up a fuss.

That's awful about the lawn service. And awkward to fire your neighbor. Or did you just keep him on to keep the peace?

No, I didn't fire my neighbor -- but I'm certainly not going to hire him to do anything more complicated than move the lawn anymore. At least he didn't charge me anywhere near what he originally estimated for trimming the trees.

It was partyl inertia, and partly just wanting to keep the peace and be a good neighbor.
